Review eLSA Symposium '25

We look back with gratitude on two days full of inspiring discussions, excellent networking, and outstanding presentations. On 25–26 September 2025, the first eLSA Symposium brought together developers, safety and security experts, and decision makers from avionics, industry, and automotive in Göttingen — around one shared question: how can open source software be used in safe and secure embedded systems?

The first edition delivered a clear message: nothing stops the industry from using Linux and open source software in functionally safe and cybersecure embedded systems. The move to open source is not only commercially sound — it is essential for digital sovereignty.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to all participants, speakers, and our Review Committee, who made the first eLSA Symposium such a success.

Highlights of the first edition

  • Talks spanning avionics, automotive, industrial, and medical — with contributions from ETAS (a Bosch company), BUGSENG, the University of Stuttgart, Elektrobit, CARIAD, Fraunhofer IEM, Linutronix, Validas, Solid Sands, Vector, AlektoMetis, ekxide, and emlix
  • A closing talk on the growing relevance of open source for the digital sovereignty of the EU and Germany
